Volunteering
I am passionate about a number of charitable causes, and have volunteered my time and skills to many organizations.
After Arts is a community of over 500 professionals in business, law, finance, healthcare, and tech who share a passion for playing and listening to music. They believe that having an artistic background can benefit an individual regardless of whether they work in a corporate setting or as a performer.
I became a member of After Arts in early 2022.
AIGA is a professional organization that advances design as a professional craft, strategic advantage, and vital cultural force.
I volunteered with AIGA from 2014-2017 on their Diversity and Inclusion Task Force, a group of AIGA members and design professionals from across the United States. I served as chair of the content and awareness committee for part of my three year stint.
In 2018, I was a member on the nominating committee for AIGA’s national board of directors.
The Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts is an assembly of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media.
I have been a member of AIVA since 2013, and have served as a judge for The Communicator Awards, The Davey Awards, and The W3 Awards.
From 2013-2014, I volunteered with Hands On Atlanta, a non-profit organization dedicated to tackling Atlanta’s most pressing needs through civic engagement and equitable community participation.
I designed and presented seven tech training programs for non-profit organizations in Atlanta, offering my skills in design and project management as a WordPress and Mailchimp expert.
The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) was founded in 1998 to help drive the creative, technical and professional progress of the Internet and evolving forms of digital media.
I have been an executive member of IADAS since 2019, and have served as a judge for The Anthem Awards, The Signal Awards, and The Webby Awards.
NEW INC was founded by the New Museum in 2014 and is the first museum-led cultural incubator dedicated to supporting innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship across art, design, and technology.
I volunteered with NEW INC in 2019-2020 as part of the Year Six cohort of mentors, offering my insight and guidance through regular office hours meetings.
Pollen, a media arts nonprofit based in Minneapolis, MN, harnesses the power of narrative change to build towards a society that is free, just, and loving.
I was asked by Pollen’s executive director, Melanie Walby, to join their board of directors in August 2023.
The W3C’s Web Education Community Group aims to evolve the Web and improve the overall skill set of the web industry by improving the quality of available web education resources and courses around the world.
I have been a member of this group since 2011.
