It’s December 15, and for the next two weeks, I’m going to be closing things out, taking stock, and putting 2025 in the rearview so I can start the new year fresh.
I probably don’t have to tell you that this has been a rough year overall. Personally, I’ve been listening to holiday music since November 1 to try and brute force some festive cheer into the atmosphere. I mean, it costs $50 to leave the house these days, the job market is a dumpster fire, and we’re being flooded with political strife at home and abroad. Is it any wonder why hunkering down, cranking up the feel-good tunes, and retreating from the world feels like a much needed bit of self-care?
I’m not really going anywhere in particular with this post. I have no profound insights to share. No cosmic wisdom to bestow upon you. I just wanted an excuse to share a playlist I put together of holiday music recorded in the 2000s that doesn’t feel like it was recorded in the 2000s.
Enjoy! Happy holidays and I’ll see you next year.
